At Gojo, we measure and monitor Impact through two major initiatives - Social and Environmental Performance Management (SEPM), which focuses on the responsible operations of our businesses, and Impact Measurement, which is a process to deepen our understanding of clients’ lives and continuously improve our services.

Social and Environmental Performance Management (SEPM)

While the intention of microfinance is to extend financial inclusion and improve the livelihood of the clients, it is also true that some organisations have put clients in a worse situation due to unethical behaviour. To mitigate such risks, the microfinance industry has developed a framework to ensure social missions are translated into action. Gojo puts SEPM at the centre of our decision making, promoting socially responsible operations of our majority-owned group companies through two main initiatives - SPI audit (Social Performance Indicator audit; internal audit on SEPM) and obtaining Client Protection Certification.

At Gojo, we're dedicated to extending financial inclusion globally. Our pragmatic impact measurement is designed to proactively learn about clients’ experiences and outcomes, both positive and negative, to improve our strategy and offerings to hold ourselves accountable to our social mission.

Our impact framework is built on three pillars: Outreach, understanding the extent of our reach to underserved and vulnerable populations; Quality, ensuring our products are accessible and reliable; and Outcomes, measuring the real-life changes our clients experience in business growth, financial stability, and household well-being.

We track 25 key indicators across these pillars, using a variety of data sources—business data, client satisfaction and exit surveys, and client outcomes surveys—to capture a comprehensive view. We're committed to continuous learning and refinement of our framework as we deepen our understanding of our clients' lives through our impact measurement and research initiatives.
